John is the youngest son of popular cabaret tenor of the thirties and forties, Stan (Bud) Abbott; and has inherited his father’s natural talent for entertaining a crowd. Beginning his musical career in Rock and Pop bands in the seventies, John developed his charismatic vocal style and stagecraft from observing, at close quarters, many of the most popular acts of the day. He has shared the stage with such icons of Australian musical history as Ronnie Burns, Mike Furber, Reg Lindsay, Russell Morris, Frankie Davidson, John Williamson and others. His career includes TV appearances with The Delltones and Denis Conner and stints on the club scene in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne. He is currently appearing in shows around SE Qld. His latest album ‘High Time Rollin’ ‘ includes many of his own compositions, covers of Hank Williams, Del Shannon etc. and the 2015 Australian Songwriters Association award-winning song lyrics ‘Memoirs of Vietnam’. John doesn’t just sing this song, he is a part of the song. You can feel his passion and emotion with every word.
